摘要

Development of communication technology is so rapid, that is called cyberspace. The aims of the study are to observe the phenomenon of how the new media used as a medium of sexual transactions: (1) what makes facebook a preferred tool of sexual transaction by commercial sex workers in the city of Makassar, (2) What type of sexual transactions are conducted on facebook. The study is a qualitative description of empirical data with qualitative interpretation of facts obtained from field observation. The results of the study indicated that the facebook had triggered a drag of community culture towards an extremely transparant condition. Narcissistic impression shown in visual form (Self display) had dragged the new media users to perpetuate themselves as customers. On the order terms, the facebookers whose motive to offer themselves had metaphored themselves as a social outer layer in a cultural display which is full of new media instruments.Concluded that facebook has become a third party, bring a sense of protection self in the transaction process, and identity of the commercial sex workers.
